we were able to catch up with friends, big and small. dinner and playing in the park with the stefanuts. potluck at the harters, featuring fried chicken and icecream!

graduation!

today was graduation day!! after nine years of sweat and tears (literally), we returned to chicago for joseph to receive his doctorate degree. on our way to campus, walking through hyde park. kind of a funny sight, but i suppose hyde parkers are used to it. people on the street were calling out congratulations! waiting read more »

blue ridge parkway

a highlight of our trip was our drive down a small portion of the blue ridge parkway. the blue ridge parkway is a scenic road that goes 755 km from virginia to north carolina. on the road itself, you are surrounded by lush greenery with occasional openings to grand vistas of the mountains. they really read more »

on the road to lake lure

roadtrip! we drove west from chapel hill to lake lure, an hour outside of asheville. driving entertainment, singing twinkle twinkle: we took a break in the town of hickory. more driving, through lovely country roads. happy to reach our destination: lake lure.

hillsborough hog day
