school’s out

R completed her first year of school! hurray! to celebrate the end of year, her class invited us to a tea where the children served their parents. i was impressed. last day of school!

a winter celebration

R’s first school concert! it was so fun to watch and enjoy their little performance. she was really cute in her tutu and borrowed ballet slippers which kept falling off. R even managed to remember her one french line: “on a un message!”. the children prepared gifts for their parents. love these!

professional day

today was graduation day!! after nine years of sweat and tears (literally), we returned to chicago for joseph to receive his doctorate degree. on our way to campus, walking through hyde park. kind of a funny sight, but i suppose hyde parkers are used to it. people on the street were calling out congratulations! waiting read more »

we’ve been very busy lately. among other things, joe is taking an intensive introductory arabic course, and i wrote my US family practice board exam today, which kind of put things on hold while studying for it. i’m hoping it will be my last exam for the forseeable future, assuming i pass. happily, my mom read more »

hamburger university

today i attended hamburger university. seriously, that is what it’s called; the training facility on the 80 acre campus of McDonald’s Corporation which is located in a suburb of chicago. i was there for a medical conference… not to learn about big macs, of course. however i did pick up a nutrition facts pamphlet and read more »

monster in the closet

it was time to put away the christmas tree, but our closet was already quite full. i was kind of amazed at how much stuff we had accumulated over a year. in particular, the number of bags i had recycled…it really didn’t look that way inside the closet.
