daytrip to charlotte: ikea and billy

we’ve been needing to go to ikea, but unfortunately it’s a 2.5 hour drive away in Charlotte, so we kept putting it off. finally we had a decent list of items, so we decided to make the trip.

passed the NASCAR speedway on the way there.

IKEA. first stop, swedish meatballs.

she found the bed and wouldn’t leave.

back to the car.

next stop, the Billy Graham Library. a museum and exhibition devoted to the life of billy graham.

last stop, dinner in Greensboro. a belated dinner celebration for Joe’s defense!

it’s harder to clomp around in daddy’s shoes, so she’ll just stand there, feeling proud of herself.

cake… always a cause for celebration! especially when we were planning to order one piece and then found out we could have two FREE pieces of cake because it happened to be a saturday. in case you’re wondering, they were as large as they appear, and we chose coconut and chocolate strawberry shortcake.

easter egg hunt 2012

today we participated in an easter egg hunt, hosted by the chapel hill preservation society at the historic horace williams house. we were there with many other children from the community, all ready with their baskets.

after a countdown, it was survival of the fittest. poor rebecca, left in the dust!

she didn’t seem to mind though, and happily trotted around with her one egg.

a wary fascination of the easter bunny.

later on, she “found” more eggs! and added two more to her collection…

it was a great morning, but apparently egg-hunting is exhausting work.

unc basketball museum

last week we visited the basketball museum on campus, featuring the tar heels and the carolina basketball program. admittedly i’m pretty ignorant about basketball at unc, but even i recognized a past unc player… michael jordan! actually, unc has produced dozens of nba players:
