it seemed time for a new blog design. it’s a snapshot of our bulletin board, featuring a baseball ticket to the cubs at wrigley field, a postcard of the university, our always cheap super china 3 phone card, and a new haircut!

nope, actually we’re in chicago again. had to wake up at 4:30AM to catch our plane. everything went smoothly, including a quick stopover through the denver airport. thankfully there were no tornadoes today.
before heading back to chicago, we had some sushi with the wongs…except tayden who had cheerios,

and then celebrated the chinese mid-autumn festival over some ribs, homemade pesto, and of course moon cake. there was, by the way, a very bright and beautiful full moon.

question: how many bobby pins does it take to keep my hair in an updo?

yesterday was louisa and jp’s big day, and i was lucky to be the matron of honour. after an early 5:30am wake up time, we got busy with the beautifying process.

the bride was so beautiful! the couple even custom made a special bench to match the graphic from their wedding invitation. after a lot of driving and picture-taking, we had the ceremony in the afternoon.

the celebrations continued at the chinese banquet reception.

at the end of the night, i was exhausted, but it was truly a great day!
Our action-packed weekend began on Saturday with the wedding of Jenn and Jason. I had the chance to be involved with the (elaborate but beautiful) music for the ceremony. Here are a couple of us musicians nervously waiting in anticipation of the big moment:

It was great spending a joyous evening with good friends. Congratulations, Jenn and Jason!

i attended an art exhibition by my friends janet and gwenessa at the richmond art gallery. the exhibit will be showing from september 21 to november 4.
“Their work examines the play of light as it flows through windows and into living spaces, providing minimal information as to what may be outside the pane of glass.”

look, if helen says “use a hairdryer”, then i will by all means use a hairdryer. it has something to do with blanching the basil…though i forget exactly why you need to. i’m just hoping to partake in the end-product.
if it looks like we’ve been spending a lot of our time in vancouver eating…

…that would be true. beef noodle with marinated pork ear and seaweed yum. shaved ice with red bean and seven other heavenly toppings yum. i’m a bit afraid i won’t be able to fit into a dress which i need to wear for a special event next month, but i just can’t stop. tomorrow i have planned a visit with some sushi.
kim, angie and matia introduced us to korean hotpot… bibim… jigae… whatever. it was the perfect meal for a rainy day. never knew spam could taste so good.

after dinner, joe practiced some piano (3.7Mb, .wmv) for an upcoming wedding and got some help with bass.
