kimchi at kimu’s

kim, angie and matia introduced us to korean hotpot… bibim… jigae… whatever. it was the perfect meal for a rainy day. never knew spam could taste so good. after dinner, joe practiced some piano (3.7Mb, .wmv) for an upcoming wedding and got some help with bass.

fiesta de phd examenes

after having a day to recover, we had a little fiesta over some fancy mexican food with dan and seunghee, joe’s phd friends, to celebrate everybody surviving their exams. congratulations everyone…now go veg and sleep. veg and sleep.

pumpkin spice is back!

cup of joe?

this brings coffee addiction to another level. lucky that we have our trusty no frills six cup black and decker coffee maker to meet joe’s daily needs. funny that coffee is called ‘cup of joe’…hee hee…he. his stress level is getting higher as exams are in less than one week, after which he’ll try to read more »

birthday dinner present

yesterday we stayed in for joseph’s birthday. menu: insalata caprese, stuffed portobello mushrooms, linguine with scallops in white clam sauce, and hazelnut gelato. and then birthday cake!

oodles of noodles

we made a trip to chinatown to stock up on some chinese food goods, including emergency food aka frozen dumplings (on sale for four packs for $7.99!…so we got eight). we also stopped for lunch and had some noodles. we received the biggest serving of noodles we had ever seen. joe managed to finish his, read more »

we had dinner with roger and cynthia at “guu with garlic” for some japanese tapas, which i gather is all the rage in vancouver. roger introduced us to a new drink called shochu (?sp). cheers!

sorry, bad pun. for a relatively uncommon last name, there sure are a lot of foods named after it. it’s making me hungry…

sushi and more

we tried a new sushi place in lincoln park with joe’s fellow U of C compatriots. check out the hamachi jalapeno roll. afterwards we were surprised with one more wedding gift: a tassimo machine! thanks guys
