dilbert knows best

found a good dilbert comic strip . reminds me of my pajama day tendencies and ability to avoid putting on shoes for a few days in a row (not counting slippers).

let’s go fly a kite

this weekend the mayor hosted a Kite Festival at the Museum of Science & Industry. it was very cute watching all these tiny kids (and not so tiny kids) concentrating intensely and zooming around as fast as they could in all directions while looking up and behind them. and of course in a sign of read more »

cezanne to picasso

We visited the Chicago Art Institute which featured a special exhibit on “Cezanne to Picasso – Ambroise Vollard, Patron of the Avant-Garde.” Vollard was a French art dealer from the early 20th century, who exhibited many artists who were struggling for a reputation at that time, including Van Gogh, Cezanne, Matisse and Picasso. holy guacamole

i had a double-take when i saw this in the grocery store. initially i thought it was just our store’s fault, but then i learned that this is actually a normal price for organic avocadoes. i wish i could buy more organic food, but i’m not sure my wallet could handle it.

saxophone blues

Yesterday I picked up my saxophone for the first time in months. I had so little stamina that I got tired after only a few minutes. Then, after talking with a friend about Selmer saxophones (mine is a Super Action 80 Series II), I went online only to find that Conn and Selmer had merged read more »
