a new pint-sized kitchen, that is. found a very affordable one on amazon, and was pre-warned that it required assembly. they weren’t kidding…! two hours later… worth the effort though. it’s the perfect size and keeps her busy (at least part of the time) while i’m cooking.
hillsborough is a neighbouring town of chapel hill and known for its historic connections with the american revolution. first we stopped by the saturday morning farmer’s market: right next to the market was the “Occaneechi Village”, a replica of a native american village which lived in the hillsborough area before being displaced by settlers. took read more

we discovered a great play area at the back of one of the stores in our local mall.
happy year of the dragon! we had dinner at a chinese restaurant called “gourmet kingdom” and got some fortune cookies before leaving. Rebecca’s fortune: “A small house can hold as much happiness as a big one.”
rebecca is officially walking and climbing stairs, which means that a visit to the playground is now way more interesting. luckily it is also relatively warm here in nc, so we didn’t have to worry about freezing. and she’s off! thank you auntie gina for my strawberry hat (very cute i must say)!
