hong kong family trip (part two)

On Wednesday, five of us (my dad, my brother, Priscilla, Jadon, and me) went via speed boat to a restaurant on Lamma Island for seafood dinner. All of us, though, spent some time at the harbor in Tsim Sha Tsui before the boat left:

When we got there, the restaurant itself was outdoor (under a canopy). In good Hong Kong tradition, we composed the menu while looking at the fresh seafood in the tanks.

One of the more unusual places we went to during the week was a “toilet-themed” restaurant. Yes, I know–the potential jokes are endless. We were afraid to have a full meal there, so we went just for dessert. Not exactly a place I’d want to go regularly (I can’t avoid the puns even if I try!), but it was eye-opening nonetheless.

We were also glad to be in Hong Kong near the end of November, when the famous Christmas lights in Tsim Sha Tsui east are put up. Here is just a small sample:

All in all, a whirlwind trip, but lots of fun was had by all.

Hey Joe, tell me how the food was in that “toilet-themed” restaurant. One word, rhymes with sCRAPPY.

Tsim Sha Tsui must have been a sigh to marvel. Lynna and I plan to go to HK next November. We’ll definitely hit that area.

we should all go together someday. but i think we can skip toilet food. grossing me out, dude. who came up with this and why?…were they on the crapper thinking of food? was there a growing appetite while in the bathroom??? i’m so grossed out with just the two associated together. the OCD in me is shouting…

I don’t know how they came up with the toilet idea. The interesting thing is how everything on their menu resembles you-know-what, e.g. curry, drinks like lemonade & lemon tea, chocolate ice-cream, etc.

I don’t know about Hong Kong but I just read an article in the Trib about the World Toilet Association that’s newly launched in South Korea. It’s unrelated to another organization by a similar name called the World Toilet Organization which was founded in Singapore. Here’s a teaser from the article:

“South Korea’s Sim, who has built a toilet-shaped house in his hometown, was unanimously elected Thursday as the new association’s first president.
South Korea has sought to establish a “toilet culture” to improve restroom facilities for hosting international events.”

Hope you guys are doing well!
