on thanksgiving day, most attractions were closed, but we found out that charles towne landing would be open… and we’re so glad it was! it turned out to be a terrific way to spend the morning, especially with a child. charles towne landing is a state historic site marking the exact place where english settlers landed in 1670 and started a colony.
we walked along the trails, under the beautiful trees with hanging spanish moss. magical!

no alligator sightings.

little tree nymph.

running between the oak trees.

marshy swamp land.

another interesting highlight was the replica of a 17th century cargo boat which we were able to board and explore.

a rare family pic!
