chimney rock state park

we spent a day at chimney rock state park, named after a 535-million-year-old monolith shaped like, well, a chimney! young and old, we trudged our way up step by step.

in the afternoon, while rebecca took her nap with the grandparents, the rest of us went for a second hike to hickory nut falls.
