this spring we tried a semester of dance lessons (that is, organized prancing around) which R really enjoyed. every week, she received a special sticker from her teacher which she would carefully bring home and save.

a butterfly birthday

A fourth birthday! I initially didn’t know if we would have a party this year, but at the end managed to put together a sweet butterfly birthday party for R and a few little friends.

Making our cake: the annual chocolate cake with whipped cream and strawberries.

Getting ready… butterflies! The happy birthday garland I made when she turned one made yet another appearance this year.

vancouver visit 2014 (part one)

R’s first school concert! it was so fun to watch and enjoy their little performance. she was really cute in her tutu and borrowed ballet slippers which kept falling off. R even managed to remember her one french line: “on a un message!”.

the children prepared gifts for their parents. love these!

bubble birthday party

We celebrated R’s third birthday this weekend with a little bubble blowing party. fortunately the weather was good and we were able to set up outside with a few balloons, which R was pretty pleased about. i thought she looked remarkably similar to her birthday card from her ee ee.

the party was small with just our dear little friend Lillian. first, the snacks.

then the main event… bubbles!

last but not least, R’s special request: chocolate birthday cake with strawberries. happy to oblige!

first day of preschool!

it’s a big day… R’s first day of preschool!! i don’t know about R, but i was feeling some butterflies in my stomach as we got her ready for school. we are blessed to have found a french immersion program here in NC to continue the family tradition!

after meeting my picture-taking needs, we were off!

according to R’s overview of the day, she did cow, dog, cat and sheep puzzles. did some colouring. there was circle time and a story. collected rocks in the playground. and had cheese, bananas and crackers for snack (with a lot of residual evidence left on her face). here’s a photo from last week’s open house.

we just finished two weeks of swimming lessons at Aquaventures! it was a lot of fun and there was definitely improvement…

blowing bubbles never fails to entertain. her bubble-making kit (which by the way cost one whole dollar) includes a little pipe which she has mastered.
