Our church has a wonderful children’s program, and this year there was a fun easter event hosted by our friends the Kizers. There was an easter story, easter egg hunt, easter parachute and easter snacks!

last month we attended our church retreat at black mountain, NC. it was short but sweet, a nice getaway from the busyness of everyday life.

this year i helped the children at church prepare a song to sing for the congregation, “As High As the Heavens”. it was uber cute, but more importantly, God was glorified.

after church we had two easter meals: first an easter lunch at the perry’s, (then nap) and then an easter dinner with our friends ben and ashley. food was delicious but forgot to take pics. needless to say we were full. in the afternoon, R got to hunt for eggs.

before heading to vancouver for our summer visit, we spent time with our church community group fellowshipping over food and then a campfire set up right in the driveway. roasted marshmallows for dessert!

emerald isle retreat 2013

emerald isle is on a long and thin barrier island, flanked by the atlantic ocean on one side, and bogue sound on the other. in between talks, free time was spent walking along the beach…

we saw dolphins only a few metres away from shore!

it was supposed to rain, but instead the sun came out! thank you God! the sound was very serene and beautiful.

it was a short but wonderful time away. i’m especially glad i had the opportunity to meet new friends and get to know people better from our church community.

on christmas eve, we attended a service at church with carol singing and time of reflection.

afterwards we were all hungry and ready for our annual hotpot meal.

pig pickin’ 2012

i remember seeing signs for “pig pickin’” last year in chapel hill and having no idea what they were talking about. this year, we got to enjoy pig pickin’ firsthand with our church. apparently some guys got up at 4:30AM to start roasting a pig, which was ready for consumption 12 hours later.

it took four months, but she’s finally figured out that the church nursery without mom and dad is not that bad a thing! it was hard for us to know since she’s always crying when we leave (albeit getting better), but someone took pictures and now we have proof!

apparently that day she insisted on sitting in the stroller with seatbelt buckled nearly the entire time. silly child.

dedicating rebecca

we held a dedication for rebecca, committing her to the Lord. it was a meaningful time of thanksgiving and prayer, which we spent with family and friends. we were very grateful to have randy, one of our pastors, come into our home and lead our mini-service.

church was in full celebration with easter decorations and music. rebecca was quite fascinated and we all enjoyed the worship service.

she made it until the last song and fell asleep. bunny out.
