after church on sunday, we met up with my friend chris, who was visiting for the weekend. after a late lunch at ‘quartino’ in downtown, we took a quick walk around millenium park; christmas lights and the outdoor ice skating rink were already all set up.

afterwards, joe and i headed off to the historic chicago theatre to catch a new cirque du soleil show called “banana shpeel”. the theatre was really nice… but unfortunately the show was a bit disappointing, despite the interesting vaudeville show concept.

in fact, the caramelized banana and vanilla gelato dessert we had at lunch was probably a lot more satisfying…!

a few weeks ago we found ourselves in greektown on a rainy day; basically a lot of blue and white flags, greek restaurants, and knick knacks reminiscent of scenes from ‘my big fat greek wedding’. while we were having dinner, i noticed that other than a grandma sitting at a nearby table, there were literally no other women eating there… all men! am i missing something?

my women’s group at church got together for a mini-high tea after finishing a study on the life of david. i made some scones which didn’t quite rise perfectly, but still tasted really yummy… with some creme fraiche and strawberry preserves. i’m actually craving them as i write this entry right now. after the cream cheese-cucumber-bacon sandwiches and plethora of desserts, we were really stuffed. oh yes, and we had some tea too. :)
